Who we are

Alisa Ashouri is the Smart Trips coordinator. She has lived car free in Turkey, Iran and Tennessee. Alisa’s background includes transportation marketing with the Tri-Cities Regional Airport, TN/VA; higher education marketing with Tennessee Tech University and promotions work with Harcourt Brace Publishers. She’s the mother of a busy toddler who often refuses to wear any shirt but the one with cars and buses on it.

Kelley Segars, Principal Planner with the Knoxville Regional TPO, started Smart Trips in 2003. She has been a bike commuter since 1998, though she also biked to campus during college and thinks that should count too. She has a nearly two-year-old daughter who adores KAT buses and bicycles. She's lived in Knoxville since 2001. In addition to helping Alisa with Smart Trips, she manages the TPO Regional Bicycle Program.
